“I believe it may be possible to return to work with my Neuralink.”
CJ Johnson, known on X as @SCI_Borg24, is Neuralink patient 24. Originally from Minnesota, he now lives in Florida. A spinal cord injury left him a C2-C5 quadriplegic who depends on a ventilator full time, with constant respiratory support from his wife. He is a professional drafter and still pursues CAD (computer-aided design) work despite his paralysis. Before Neuralink he tried noninvasive brain-computer interfaces from two companies, and one built him a prototype, but neither was precise enough for his CAD work. He was selected for Neuralink's PRIME study at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and drove 1,800 miles each way from Minnesota for surgery because he cannot take commercial flights. In March 2026 he received the N1 implant at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, in a surgery performed by co-investigator Dr. Michael E. Ivan. At his one-month follow-up in April the surgical site had healed well, and with help from a Neuralink engineer he reached 6.23 bits per second on Webgrid, a cursor-control test. He shares his progress openly on X, including his hope to move again.
